If you are a freelancer, especially a new freelancer then this one is just for you. I can totally feel you. A few months back I was at the same place whereas a freelancer I was making a lot of mistakes. With the time, experience and the guidance from my mentors I have come to a conclusion that these are the common mistake that every new freelancer make, and you can always correct them :

1. Overcommitting: As a new freelancer I can understand that you might get excited about your new work and whatever your prospect/client asks you. But Overcommitting increases your pressure, and then you don’t enjoy work. So set boundaries, be clear about your scope of work, and commit only what you can do, or getting paid for. Overcommitting can drain your energy, make you tensed and decrease your love for work. This is always harmful to your productivity, so make sure you don't over-commit.

2. Procrastinating: I can totally understand if you are not confident enough to take up new clients, foreign clients and procrastinate in approaching them. But again that will harm your experience, the more you work with new/international/different clients, the more you will get rich in terms of experience. So do not procrastinate. Go, approach them and start working with some ah-mazing clients.

3. Not managing your time: Time management is the most important factor when it comes to freelancing. If you can manage your time well, you can work with some great no. of clients, and work on your personal digital products as well. So if you are not good at time management, do work upon it. There are many apps like Trello, Notion, Google calendar that can help you.

4. Accepting every project: You need to make one thing clear for you, you can not work for everything that is coming in your way. You need to set up a filter and only choose those which will help you to grow in your career and will give you the best client experience. So stop saying YES to everything that is coming to you. Choose what works best.
