Why Gymshark Became a Gym Bro Obsession in India.

The first time I saw someone wearing a Gymshark hoodie at my gym I genuinely stopped mid set. It was not even flashy just a simple grey hoodie with a small shark logo but it hit different. I asked the guy where he got it and he said his cousin brought it from Dubai. That was my first lesson about this brand in India. You either know someone abroad or you are ordering through some middleman and praying it is not fake.
I spent weeks stalking their website after that. Everything looked so clean the models looked like actual lifters not just influencers posing and the leggings genuinely looked squat proof unlike some local brands where you can see through the fabric the moment you bend down. But then I saw the shipping cost to India and closed the tab immediately. A pair of leggings that already costs around three thousand rupees suddenly becomes five thousand after shipping and customs. For a student like me that is not casual spending that is a decision I have to sleep on.
What really pulled me in deeper was the influencer culture around it. Every fitness page I followed was wearing this brand. Indian creators started repping it too and once that happened it stopped feeling like some foreign thing and started feeling like something I needed to have to be taken seriously in the gym community online. I know how that sounds but anyone who posts gym content will admit outfits matter more than we like to admit.
I still do not think Gymshark understands how big it has become here without even trying. No store no official Indian pricing no proper marketing push and yet half the gym bros I know either own something from them or are saving up to buy something. If they ever launch officially in India I honestly do not know if I will be excited or a little sad. Right now chasing it feels like part of the whole gym journey. Once it becomes easy to buy I have a feeling it will lose that little spark that made it special in the first place.
