Foreign Secretary Shringla to meet Biden Administration Officials

Shringla is one among the few foreign officials to be in town and the highest level Indian official, to meet with the top officials of Biden administration after US troops’ withdrawal from Afghanistan that ended their 2-decade war.

 

On Wednesday, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary, arrived in the United States capital to hold meetings with the senior officials from the US president Joe Biden's administration.

 

Shringla is one among the few foreign officials to be in town and the highest level Indian official, to meet with the top officials of Biden administration after the US troops’ withdrawal from Afghanistan that ended their 2-decade war.

Ned Price, the State Department Spokesperson, told reporters that they will update with the meetings and provide any updates of the schedule as they’re able to, when asked about meetings of the Indian diplomat.

Shringla landed in DC from New York, where he chaired a meeting of the UN Security Council on Afghanistan. India was President of the (15-member) wing of the UN for the month of August.

No other details about his meetings in the American capital were made directly available. But Afghanistan and Quad summit will likely be talked about the most in between the Indian and US officials. The Quad is made up of 4 countries namely Australia, India, Japan, and USA.

President Joe Biden has now given top priority to Quad. He has announced an in-person Quad summit to take place in this fall.
