Everyone above 18 in Goa, regardless of Covid status to be given Ivermectin

Vishwajit Rane, Health Minister of Goa has said that the Ivermectin can’t prevent Covid, but can diminish the severity. He said, expert panels from the UK, Italy, Spain, and Japan have found statistically significant results in the patients treated with this medicine.

In Goa, everyone above the age of 18 years is to be given the Ivermectin drug, irrespective of their Corona virus status to bring down mortality, the state health minister Vishwajit Rane said, on Monday.

He stated – ‘patients are going to be given 12mg Ivermectin, for around a period of 5 days as the expert panels from the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and Japan have discovered a statistically significant decrease in mortality, time to recover, and viral clearance in Covid patients treated with this medicine.’
 
Rane stated, "I have given instructions for immediate implementation of prophylaxis (action taken to prevent disease) treatment." This treatment is not going to prevent Covid infection completely, but it can diminish the severity of it significantly, is what the Health Minister said.

He added, "The Ivermectin 12 mg tablet will be made available in all the district, sub-district, PHCs, CHCs, sub-health centers, rural dispensaries for people to collect and start treatment immediately, irrespective of any symptoms or anything.”
 
One of the health officials on Monday said that, the state of Goa had recorded 2,804 new cases of Covid, making the tally to 1,21,650, while 50 more deaths made the toll to be 1,729.
