World NGO Day 2021

 

World NGO Day is observed/celebrated every year on the 27th of February. The NGO stands for Non-Government Organisation and is also referred to as non-profit organisation. This aims to inspire the public to come up be more actively connected within NGOs sectors and observe the growth of interdependent among NGOs and the public. The worldwide concept of this day is observed, memorialise and collaborate every NGO all around the world and the public involved in it which all make a great contribution to our society.

Some history about this day - Marcis Liors Skadmanis established the 27th of February the World Non-Government Organisation Day. On 17th April 2010, it was known officially by the Baltic Sea NGO Forum of the Baltic Sea States. The 1st celebration of the World NGO day was done in 2014, 27th February at Helsinki (the capital of Finland) and Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted it. Many organisations along with a lot of worldwide famous personnel, (UNESCO, UN & European Union) leaders were gathered here.

  

The role of NGOs - As World NGO Day is a reminder to us that NGOs wield a healthy influence in promoting equality, enabling development & also improving the overall quality of life. NGOs are generally citizen-based groups and are organized on usually local, national or international levels. They perform different services & functions, ranging from humanitarian assistance and poverty alleviation to community development and environment protection. Major sources of funding for NGOs come from membership fees and grants from various institutions & governments, private donations along with sale of goods & services.

  

The objective of Celebrating this Day – Firstly, it is to list out yearly achievements & contributions of NGOs which they had done for the sake of society. Secondly, it is so to provide knowledge regarding the NGOs and their importance, how it works selflessly for the betterment of the society, country and the whole world. Next is to inspire people through various events, rallies and through many effective contributions in every field. Lastly, this is to promote every NGO of our globe & to establish or maintain a better relationship among them. So that together, it will be easy to solve all and any problem.

  

The Celebration - On this day organisations organise a lot of events to celebrate it and make it special. They provide many social welfare services on this occasion. The people not involved in any NGOs also celebrate and participate in the community works which organised for the celebration purpose. On this day, the great role of People in the NGOs commemorated and honoured. Also, reward distribution takes place to honour the spectacular selfless service of a person in this very field.
