Farm unions & traders to join Bharat Bandh tod

 

The Confederation of All India Traders aka CAIT the umbrella body which has called for the strike —issued a statement that said that all commercial markets across the country will remain closed on February 26 against rising fuel prices, the new e-way bill & the goods and services tax aka the GST.

 

Several of the farm organisations protesting in the new farm laws decided, on Thursday to extend support to ‘Bharat Band’ call given by the transport & trade Unions on the 26th of February.

  

Issuing a statement, the Confederation of All India Traders aka the CAIT — the umbrella body which has called for the strike said that all of commercial markets across the country will remain closed on the 26th February against the ever rising fuel prices along with the new e-way bill and the goods and services tax aka the GST. Close to 40,000 trade associations have offered support to the call for the band.

 

The statement said “We highly regret such a dismal attitude and picture of the GST which has compelled the trade union leaders attending the conference to call for a Bharat Trade Band.”

 

Offering help to this call, the SKM appealed to all the farmers to join the band peacefully. Farm leader Dr Darshan Pal said farmers’ bodies support the traders facing hardships due to the GST & rising fuel prices.

 

In a separate statement, the All India Transport Welfare Association aka the AITWA, which is the apex body of the organised road transportation companies, also offered support to the CAIT’s call, saying that the transporters “should not be subjected to various penalties issued by the government for any time-based compliance target of transit”.
