Army rescues tourists Trapped in the Nathu-La Pass, Sikkim

In one of the statements the army said that the tourists were stranded in 155 vehicles because of the snowstorm over a 15 kilometres stretch on Friday. “...[the vehicles] started skidding after the snowstorm,” was said in this statement. The tourists were rescued in army vehicles and accommodated safely to military camp barracks.
  
The army rescued close to 447 tourists trapped at Nathu-La close to the India-China border in Sikkim following a snowstorm on Thursday. Nathu-La, which is located at an altitude of more than 14,000 ft, is a popular tourist destination in India. This place welcomes many tourists both national & international, every year.
In one of the statements, the army said the tourists were stranded in 155 vehicles because of the snowstorm over a 15 kilometres stretch on Friday. “...the vehicles started skidding after the snowstorm,” was a part of the statement. “The tourists were rescued in army vehicles and accommodated in the barracks of 17 Mile Military Camp. All tourists were provided accommodation while 26 had to be hospitalised and required critical medical support. There were no major injuries or casualties.”
  
A little about the Nathu-La pass is - Nathu La is a mountain pass in the Himalayas in the Eastern Sikkim district. It connects the state of Sikkim with China's Tibet Autonomous Region. This pass, at 4,310 m above mean sea level, forms a part of an offshoot of the ancient Tea Horse Road. The meaning of Nathu is actually "listening ears" and La means "pass" in Tibetan. It is one of the most beautiful and majestic mountain ranges in India.
